Gary made an announcement that 10 acres of land would be donated to the club from Nancy Smith for the cost of the transaction. A request was made that the club remembers her father in some way in the development of the land. The current street ( Emory Ave ?) ends at the corner of this lot. Donna Koutek made a motion to approve the purchase of the land, Gary then announced that Clayton Smith would also donate the 10 acre parcel next to Nancy 's so the club would have 20 acres, second by Shane Rank, carried. There was a lot of discussion about the possibilities of developing these 20 acres. Mention was made that the club might want to apply for 501(c) 3 status. Dallas Hoerres made a motion that the Executive Committee meets with Nancy and Clayton to work out the purchase agreement, second by Jerry Wendt, carried. Chris announced that the park has been reserved for September 24 through October 1, 2007 for the ATV Weekend, and a verbal agreement has been made to reserve the Fair Exhibition Hall. Reserving the park and building under the Rail Runners name does not imply that we are excluding anyone from the event, it just has been done to make sure that they are reserved for this specific event. There were ideas mentioned as possibilities to include next year, such as truck pull, lawnmower pull, mud bogs. Discussion followed on whether or not it is a good idea to include trucks and/or lawnmowers in what has been seen as an ATV only weekend. More ideas will be discussed at future meetings. Chris extended a thank you to all who worked over the weekend. |
